There was a time where I didn't own sneakers... I know it sounds crazy.
There was a time where I didn't wear jeans. There was a time when I cared way, way too much about the size of my butt and how I convinced myself I needed boots and a skirt to help solve my self-hate with sartorial solutions.
Then I grew up, focused on my self-worth and on my work. I had a baby and realized that in fact my 22 year old bottom was at the time practically perfect if only I'd had the confidence.
I cleared a lot of space to start caring less about how sexy I was and I found I started caring about other things - a lot.
Things like the environment and inequality and being able to run jump and move while exploring a new city.
With all this in mind and in honor of Colin Kaepernick. Below are a few of my favorite "running shoes' that stand for something more than just taking up precious packing space.
